| Background - | My style has always been to be both collaborative and evaluative at the same time. Additionally, I understand that time is often pressing and, therefore, I will use our allotted time wisely. Finally, I will act as more than just a conduit of offers back and forth without offering any insight. I will share my expert opinion on a case with both sides, candidly exploring the case's strengths and weaknesses to help nurture a mutually acceptable agreement. Since my call for the bar in 1993, I have acted for both employees and employers throughout my career. I know both sides of the table well. I understand what each side is looking for to satisfy their clients. I adapt my approach to the circumstances, providing my evaluative views but also exploring the underlying issues and other matters of importance to the parties when they are necessary to help facilitate an agreement. With the availability of virtual mediation through Zoom, I can mediate disputes anywhere there is an Internet connection and/or phone line. Scheduling has been expedited without having to book a boardroom and meeting rooms. In my opinion, this has made mediation an even more appealing resolution mechanism. |
