| Background - | I was called to the bar in 2004 and have practiced Employment, Labour and Human Rights Law since that time. My experience includes providing advice, representation, and acting as a neutral within a variety of sectors including the private, public and broader public sector. I am a former Vice Chair at the Human Rights Tribunal (HRTO), and adjudicator at the Landlord and Tenant Board. During my time at the HRTO I decided and mediated complex cases on such topics as gender based discrimination, age discrimination, racial harassment, and disability based discrimination. Many of my decided cases can be found on CanLII including, Wickham v. Hong Shing Chinese Restaurant, 2018 HRTO 500 (CanLII), which made international headlines in 2018, and D’Alesio v. Walker Real Estate Inc., 2019 HRTO 696 (CanLII), which was upheld by the Divisional Court. I have particular skill and experience in resolving and facilitating multiparty disputes, including those involving unionized workers, and facilitating workplace conflict among employees. |
